Loren Altman was a qualified out of stater placing 2nd at The Panty Raid with over 400 horses. Her and Elvis made a run that would land her in the BOTB Slot Race something her and her family have been long time supporters of. Then an injury to Elvis would diminish her thoughts of running in the BOTB unless he could come back in time however it just was not in the cards for 2014. Loren herself has had to undergo foot surgery which would leave her and Elvis on injured reserve for 2014 as well. We know with the grit and passion this team has they will be back bigger and better than ever in 2015 and will not let anything step on their Blue Suede Shoes.
We look forward to seeing you at the show and look forward to a great 2015 with you two being part of it. 🙂
The Best of the Best will be shining bright with the Qualifiers for 2014 – Read a little about them and what they have to say about their horse, favorite arenas and the people who inspire them the most.
BOTB Qualified Rider – Loren Altman Out of Kittanning PA
What is the name of your horse? NRR Playboy Sunfrost
When and Where did you qualify for the BOTB? The Race was on 4/13/14 and held at Champion Center, Springfield, OH – Panty Raid
What are the bloodlines of your horse? “Elvis” is out of Playboy Peppy Elvis (Own son of Freckles Playboy) and PC Jackie Frost (Own daughter of Sun Frost), Born on the T4 Quarter Horse Ranch
Can you name one or more people who inspire your riding? It’s really hard for me to pick one person, there are so many people from the barrel racing community that have helped me and pushed me along the way. I would have to say my Mom has offered me the most inspiration through the years, and especially with Elvis
What is your best memory of you and your horse as a team? Elvis and I have had a lot of ups and downs. But my best memory with him was when we qualified for the Best of the Best at the Panty Raid. He was being particularly difficult that weekend and the day before I swear I would have sold him for a dollar. So the next day we worked on a few things and I wasn’t expecting a whole lot out of him. When he went in and laid down a run good enough to place us second that day it more than made up for his poor attitude the previous days. This memory taught me a lot about Elvis and what it takes to get him and I in the right frame of mind and ready to work.
What is your favorite arena and why is it the one you like the most? Champion Center in Springfield, OH is my favorite arena because Elvis likes the setup and it’s hard not to enjoy the company at these shows!
How long have you had the horse you qualified on? Four years
Do you have a favorite song you like to hear before you enter the alley way to make a run? Counting Stars – OneRepublic
Watch for Loren and NRR Playboy Sunfrost in 2015 to knock the Blue right off your Suede Shoes at the Best of the Best!
