Peyton Theado and Tucker Non Stop
Peyton is the little girl that could. From the first time we meant this shy little girl at 4T Arena so much has changed. She has become almost the opposite. She has grown into a beautiful, out going, strong willed young lady that anyone would be proud to call their friend, sister, or daughter. Peyton is an A student, active in FFA, Student Counsel, and volunteer’s for any and all she can.
Peyton has worked her butt off to get from the 4th, 3rd , 2nd divisions to the 1st division. Not only to be placing in the 1st division but to qualify for the BOTB. It has not came easy it has been hard work, lots of tears, lots of riding, studying every inch of every video — but it is here. For someone who was always in someone’s shadows since we have known her to now being her own person and owning every win, loss and all in between we are more than excited to have her as a BOTB contestant.
How old is your horse, how long have you been together and where did you qualify?
Tucker is 13 years old. We have been a team for 4 years. Thank you Patti and John Elliott for selling him to me. We qualified at Henderson Arena in April we were 3rd out of 187 horses.
Any quirks the 2 of you do before you run?
I usually take Tucker in a few circles before we run just to make sure he is focused, then I make sure I have a game plan for the two of us, which is usually just to kick! (Editors note: Good Idea!)
What do you feed your horse?
Premier Feeds
What is one secret training tool?
I don’t really have any special training tools. My mom videos all of my runs and I go back through and watch them to see things that I need to fix.
How often do you ride in a weeks time?
I try and ride 3 to 4 times a week, but sometimes it depends on how much homework I have or what I am doing after school.
If you could name one thing that made you the rider you are today, what would it be?
My dad has made me the rider I am today. He has an eye for good horses, when we bought tucker he was a 3-D horse, I never thought we’d ever run 1-D. He also always helps me if I’m having any problems with any of my horses. My brother for being my #1 fan. I think the best part of getting to barrel race is that my parents get to experience everything with me. They might have to see me almost fall off or hang off the side of my horse, but they get to experience every great run I have. They taught me to appreciate every horse I get to ride because I can learn something from it. My mom always told me to be happy with every run but to be humble with the great runs because you never know how long it’s going to last. (Editors Note : this is only one of the reasons we love you Ms Peyton)
What is your Favorite arena and why?
My favorite arena would probably have to be Henderson’s because of the great food (even if it’s not that fast).
Tell us something that not every one knows about you and your horse?
Something no one knows is that I was going to sell Tucker 2 years ago, I could not get around the barrels for anything. One night Brad Shirey stayed after a show and showed me slow work to do that could fix Tucker’s problem, well my goodness it worked! I would have to thank all the Shirey’s Hannah for giving me someone to look up to, Madeline for giving Tucker great pep talks, and Jenna and Nina for giving me great pep talks and telling me I did good! Oh and one more thing…. Tucker loves when people yell for him, he feels like he’s flying – (Editors Note – Do you mean like Clea did for Sparks in your winning youth run?)
Do you have any goals for you and your horse in the next year to come?
In the next year to come, I want to qualify for Best of the Best again and to place at Congress
What Charity would you like to support if you had the chance and why?
The charity I would like to support is St. Jude’s. I think it’s a great cause. Anything to help out with kids are my favorite charities.
What has been your all time favorite win as a rider. – Any horse, any time, any arena?
My all time favorite win would have to be when I won the youth by 3 tenths on Sparks. I couldn’t thank Dawn and Clea enough for letting ride him this year, he’s made into a better rider. I’ve never had some many people hug me or tell me ‘great run!’ I never knew that many people even watched me, I mean I didn’t even know half of them. It was pretty great seeing Dawn and Clea walk around with these big smiles all day but the best part was probably when Clea ran out and hugged me and told me “I done great!” (Editors Note: You did do great and we are proud to have you ride any of our horses)
From the little shy girl that has grown into a wonderful, at times mouthy, young lady who we love very much. We wish you the best Ms Peyton.
We want to thank all the sponsors who make this show possible! Thank you!
Be safe and Love one another a little more each day.
Dawn & Clea
Love Peyton to pieces! Hoping for the best for her!
