Baily Vantilburg & Get R Done Sunfrost aka Sparky

We first meant Baily at The Champion Center at the end of 2012.  She came in on her sorrel horse and out of no where took the lead.  Everyone wondered who that young girl was, you know that one that had the smoking run on the little sorrel horse.   With her grandpa sitting in the bleachers and cheering with every run we knew she would be one to watch for the coming year.  Sure enough she was and is one to watch.baily

Maybe you know Baily from her Facebook page with her crazy eyed pictures of her and her sister.  If you don’t know Baily – when you get a chance – say hi.  We don’t think you will be disappointed.

Here is some information on the young 14 year old straight A student from Celina Ohio riding her horse named Sparky!

How old is your horse, how long have you been together and where did you qualify?

My horse Get R Done Sunfrost, aka Sparky, is 7 with the brain of a 4 year old and we have only been a team for 9 months.  We qualified for the BOTB while winning the open at WB Ranch in Swanton Ohio.

Any quirks the 2 of you do before you run?

Before each run I do a little prayer in my head and I am always running for someone, like someone that is hurt or someone going through a rough time.  For Sparky we do a lot of flexing, bending, and lifting his shoulder.

What do you feed your horse?

Sparky gets fed Nutrena horse pellets, 2-3 flakes of hay, and sometimes apples and corn cobs, he also likes to eat whatever is in front of him.

What is one secret training tool?

A secret training tool, hmmm, for Sparky it is to keep him focused and keep his mind moving, he is young and curious.

How often do you ride in a weeks time?

In the summer I ride every morning and since I am a freshman in high school I try to ride everyday, but at a minimum 4 times a week

If you could name one thing that made you the rider you are today, what would it be?

Well a person that make me the rider I am today would be Vivian Bransteter she has known me since I was little and I always go to her when I need help, the horse that made me the rider is my 21 year old horse Tubby we have been a team for 4 years and I have grown so much on him, and the technique would be hard work.

What is your Favorite arena and why?

My favorite arena is Springfield because the people are very very nice, the show run smoothly, the facility is great, and my horses really like the ground.

Tell us something that not every one knows about you and your horse?

Something some people don’t know about me is that I am 14 and get very excited/nervous before I run and that stresses me out with having to do all the correcting on my horse when he does something wrong because I don’t have a trainer or anything, its all me, and that could and has caused me to pass out while running, something about Sparky that some people don’t know is that he wasn’t started on barrels until he was 5. (Editors Note: Now don’t be passing out while running at the BOTB)

Do you have any goals for you and your horse in the next year to come?

I have many goals, but a major one is to win the 9-13 youth class at the All American Quarter Horse Congress I have been trying at this for 4 years, but this would be my first try with Sparky

What Charity would you like to support if you had the chance and why?

Any charity would be fine with me, but I would really like to support one for Cystic Fibrosis because one of my good friends, Macy Gehle, is fighting it.

What has been your all time favorite win as a rider. – Any horse, any time, any arena?

I have had many wins but my all time favorite would have to be at WB Ranch when I ran a 15.955 and qualified for the Best of the Best. It is one of my favorites because towards the beginning of the class Tausha Schneider ran a 15.965 and I over heard some people saying that she had the class won, it’s over, but I was just thinking in my head, “just wait until Sparky and I run!” and Sparky went out there and gave me his heart to pull off the win.

I always try to stay positive and push myself to do my best and my grandpa is a huge factor to that.  (Editor’s note : her Grandpa is with Baily and cheering her on at every show.  It is so nice to see )  I call my horses my boys and I wouldn’t change them for the world !

Well there you have it another interview from the BOTB in Ohio.

We want to thank all the sponsors who make this show possible!   Thank you Dr. Krack A Lot!  Dr Krack Alot Black

Be safe and Love one another a little more each day.
