This is Aubrey Yoder’s first time qualifying — and the way she got here makes it mean more. Amber came back from what was thought to be a career-ending stifle injury, and Aubrey rehabbed her all the way back to qualify “when a lot of people didn’t think she could do it.”
Aubrey boards with family friends nearby who are supportive and invested in her journey, giving her the freedom to come feed, ride, and care for her horses anytime. She credits Kaylee Cripe with developing her as a rider from her very first pony — “every time I have a bad run, she’s the first person I go to.”
And the horse who made her? Patty, the youngest horse she’s ever had. “Before Patty, I knew nothing. She’s taught me how to start a horse and how to finish a horse, where to sit and where to put my hands. Maybe most importantly, she’s taught me determination and perseverance. With Patty, I have to work.”
Aubrey also wanted to thank her whole family — mom, dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles — for showing up and sacrificing so she can be here.
