Katelyn Porada is building her own string and Willow is the one in a million!

Katelyn Porada & “Willow” — SRB French Lady Fame
Rogers, OH · Qualified at Penland Farms

“She is kind of like a race car that doesn’t want to stop.” Katelyn Porada loves how much Willow loves her job — she challenges you, but she wants to be her best.

Katelyn has qualified for BOTB three times in Pee Wee on Adios Charlotte and Miss Trashy Gunner, and twice this year in youth on Willow at two different shows — but this is her first time making the trip. Her proudest day: taking 3rd in the 1D of the open and winning the youth on the same day, qualifying in both classes.

There are eight horses at the Porada farm, several of them broodmares who used to be barrel horses. Katelyn and her mom ride and train them all, and Katelyn is building her own string — two futurity horses this year and a 2025 filly. When she was seven she told her mom she wanted to breed her own futurity horse; while she waited on KP Color Me Famous to grow up, she rode whatever was available, a different horse or two every year. That’s how she ended up on her mom’s mare Willow — who’s now six and showing she’s the one-in-a-million.

Her mom pushed her onto all those different horses and never let her quit. That experience is the whole story.

Welcome to the Best of the Best, Katelyn.
