This is Paisley Shafer’s first time qualifying for the Best of the Best. She’s also qualified for the American Eastern Regional Finals — her biggest win to date. Being homeschooled means most of her days are spent riding, and their indoor arena keeps her horses in shape year-round. “I feel it’s made me a better rider the last few years for sure.”
Her mom is the one who made her the rider she is. And Nic Of Shine — her mom’s rodeo horse, who Paisley got to run for two years before losing him in a freak accident — taught her so much.
Her message is a good one for anybody: “Keep showing up every day, even on the hard days, and always be positive. Your mindset is everything.”
