This is Tate Shafer’s first time qualifying, and the way he got here is exactly what he names as his biggest win: “I went in with a goal that day and I accomplished it.”
Tate has ridden horses his whole life with his family. He started out roping when he was little, then found he really enjoyed riding young horses and training them on barrels. He credits Brad Wagner and Macie Brumfield — “I really enjoy riding with them and bouncing ideas off them.” And his bay horse “Tex” showed him that patience pays off.
