In 9 days the Best of the Best in Ohio riders will take their horses and their skills into The Champion Center for a weekend of what they hope to be their best run of the year. With family at their side or at home in front of the computer screen watching, we know they will be cheering for their favorite team to take home the title of The Best of the Best Champion in Ohio! If you are unable to make the show you can watch while logged onto www.mswpix.com! Hope you enjoy.
Stephanie Stout and her team mate Six are looking to prove they have what it takes to be that Champion. After several great weekends since she started to ride this dappled grey horse she will be one to keep an eye out for when she enters the shoot to head to the cloverleaf pattern. With a cheering crowd from Pennsylvania we are sure she will have great energy headed her way for a great run.
You Pennsyltuckians might want to come together to get this team in the Calcutta before someone else scoops them up. (Editors Note: I can call anyone a Pennsyltuckian – as I am one myself)
Stephanie Stout & Six – looking for a win at the BOTB!
How old is your horse and how long have you 2 been a team?
Six is 9 this year and we have only been together since spring of this year.
Where did you qualify and what placing was it and how many horses were in the class?
We qualified at Simmons Arena in Negley Ohio. I was second out of about 90 horses. (Editors note – Simmons is one of the BOTB Sponsor’s this year- We Thank them!) www.simmonsec.com
Any quirks the 2 of you do before you run?
He is pretty relaxed so I usually warm him up in the drags then hand walk the drag before I run.
What do you feed your horse?
Six is fed Equi Pro E-TEC.
What is one secret training tool?
We really don’t have any secrets.
How often do you ride in a weeks time?
I usually ride between 2 and 4 times a week. Six is owned by Ed Henle so when I’m not able to do it Eddie will ride him for me.
If you could name one thing that made you the rider you are today, what would it be?
Perseverance. With hard work and dedication there is no telling what you can accomplish!
What is your Favorite arena and why?
I like to run at Circle G and at Simmons, you can always count on great ground.
Tell us something that not everyone knows about you and your horse?
Six has only been running barrels competitively for about six months.
Do you have any goals for you and your horse in the next year to come?
I would like to finish out strong this year before thinking about next year. Six is a great horse and I look forward to seeing what he can do.
What Charity would you like to support if you had the chance and why?
Autism Awareness. It’s a devastating disorder that effects so many.
What has been your all time favorite win as a rider. – Any horse, any time, any arena?
I don’t really have a favorite win. However I was pretty excited this year when I ran my first 14.9 at Simmons on Six.
A final note from the town of Atwater Ohio and the gal headed to the BOTB in 9 days!
” I would like to say a special thank you to my mother and my Grandmother for always giving me the opportunity to ride. I would also like to thank the Henle family for allowing me the chance to ride such an amazing horse. I am truly blessed.”
We want to thank our sponsors of the BOTB this year. Without them we could not have this show for Team Marley and all the riders.
See some of you in 9 days and hope to see the rest of you some day as well. Until then safe travels and enjoy life- it is short.
Love to all
Dawn and Clea
