Lester is the first horse Elaina Johnson has run after coming up on ponies — and she loves that he takes care of her. “He keeps us honest as a team and safe.”
Elaina qualified once before, a few years back, on her pony Lily. And Lily deserves a mention here: in 2025 the two of them won the open 4D average at the IBRA State Show and took third in the shootout the same day — over $1,200 in one day.
Her mom is the one who made her the rider she is, teaching her horsemanship, how to run barrels, and how to love and trust horses. And her pony Skylar — a little black pony she started riding at age three — taught her everything. They still have him today.
